THE MAKING OF: SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS

CREATING A FAMILY TRADITION
Our family's Halloween photos started quite unintentionally, when I was pregnant with our youngest child. I actually had a dream about how now I would have four kids to dress up as the Wizard of Oz characters. So in 2013, when Bergen was only 11 months old and our other kids were 3, 5 and 7, we shot our first Halloween photo.
We loved how that photo turned out and decided to try another one the following fall. We've done one ever since, and they've gotten a little bigger every year. Now the kids (Rowan, Finn, Declan & Bergen) help to choose the theme. I develop the concept, order or make the costumes and props, scout locations, style the set, photograph the images, edit the composited final photo, and put together a "making of" video. My husband, Ryan, is also a big part of the success of these shoots. He helps with makeup, props, set modifications, kid-wrangling, lighting and all kinds of technical assistance. We both have college degrees in Theatre, so has been fun for us to use those skills and create some magical memories for our whole family.
